WHAT IS A FRIEND?
Someone who cares enough about St Nicholas Parish Church to join an association dedicated to the upkeep and improvement of the building. The Church in Ash belongs to the whole village, not just to the worshipping congregation.
The Friends of St Nicholas Church in Ash is a secular organisation and a registered charity which exists to raise funds for the maintenance of this historic and important church. The aim of the Friends is to raise money for the repair of the building itself, for example, the church clock, steeple repairs, new floor and doors etc., necessary to help maintain this beautiful 13th century building.
Once you have settled into the village you will see our various social and entertainment fund raising events, which add to village life, advertised around the village. Currently we run a Shuffleboard evening in the autumn and a Fun Race night in the new year, both include home cooked supper and a licensed bar. Our main fund raising event is the Ash Art Exhibition held in the Church over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
